The Newton home screen. Pretty much the same as what was the Palm home screen. iOS home screen is basically a glorified version of all this. Androïd too. Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 looks like the most different and ambitious implementation of the home screen. The home screen is essential in a world where apps are a collection of isolated apps that don’t talk to each other. How is this important in a world of meshed apps exchanging bits of informations via published communication channels and advertised services?
